Arusha National Park
Arusha National Park offers a popular tour experience, combining game drives and guided nature walks accompanied by armed rangers. It stands out as the only national park in Tanzania that allows nature walks within its boundaries. Mount Meru, reaching 4566 meters above sea level and located within the park, provides an opportunity for a three to four-day climb with overnight stays at alpine huts like Miriakamba and Saddo during the ascent and descent.
Covering an area of 137 sq. km, the park boasts unique features such as montane forest, Momela lakes, Ngurdoto Crater, and the rocky Mount Meru. Wildlife within the park includes zebra, giraffe, buffalo, elephant, waterbuck, warthog, baboons, velvet monkeys, Red Forest Duikers, the Abyssinian black and white Colobus monkeys, and occasionally leopards. Bird enthusiasts can spot over 400 bird species, including flamingos and Eurasian migrants, particularly from October to April. The Arusha National Park tour is available year-round, excluding the rainy season in April and May.
