4 Days Usambara Trekking

Day 1: Lushoto to Lukozi Village

Commence your 4-day trek from Lushoto Town, navigating through Magamba Forest to Lukozi. Immerse yourself in natural beauty, exploring various tree species, vibrant flowers, and shrubs. Marvel at the rich vegetation, encounter colorful birds, butterflies, and monkeys. Traverse villages, experience local life, and enjoy a picnic lunch. Continue the trek through villages, culminating in an overnight stay in a small lodge in Lushoto village.

Day 2: Lukozi to Rangwi

Embark on an early morning journey through villages, farmlands, and settlements of the Mbugu and Pare tribes. Pass through landscapes, viewpoints, and mountain peaks to reach Rangwi village. Accommodate at the Sisters’ Convent, where you can interact with the Roman Catholic Sisters, learning about their lives and the local village. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Rangwi to Mtae

Begin the day with a trek through the village of Emau, ascending Shagayu peak at 2250 meters above sea level for breathtaking views of the Usambara scenery. Walk through Shagayu pine forest to Goka village, Sunga village, and stop for a hot meal. After lunch, proceed to Mabughai village, visit pottery women, learn the art of molding pots with clay soil, and walk down to Mtae village, enjoying scenic views of Pare mountains and Lake Kalimau. Witness a mesmerizing sunset at Mtae Village, also known as World View Point.

Day 4: Mtae, Lushoto, and Irente View Point

In the early morning, drive back to Lushoto and walk to Irente Viewpoint. Admire the panoramic views of Mazinde Village, Masai land, and indulge in local food, including cheese, at Irente Farm. Return to Lushoto for an overnight stay.
